Friðrik Margrétar

Friðrik Margrétar-Guðmundsson graduated from compositions at the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2017. Friðrik is known for his music for theatre, dance and visual media as well as composing for classical instruments and choir. His first full length opera Ekkert er sorglegra en manneskjan was premiered in September 2020 and received two prices at the Icelandic Theatre Awards (Gríman) for music of the year and singer of the year (María Sól Ingólfsdóttir) receiving five additional nominations including Show of the Year. Earlier in 2020 he released his first EP, Skipholt.
His works have been performed around Europe and Iceland by various performers including Ensemble Recherche in Freiburg and The Reykjavík Cathedral Choir. Recently Friðrik has worked with industrial techno band HATARI and is featured on their latest album Neyslutrans.
